I lay on the bottom of the ocean floor watching the sharks above me. Please don't let them find me. Don't let them pick up my scent. A man was swimming violently near the surface. He must have fell in. Stealthily, the biggest shark swam quickly towards the man and almost in an instant ripped apart his legs from his body. I quickly turned away and cringed. That would have been me if I had gotten there a little later. My hand rested on a coral surrounded by numerous other bones. I had to escape. Two other sharks had begun fighting over the other half of the man and one of the sharks wasn't so lucky to win any part. His brothers also tore him to shreds. Numerous pieces of shark and human flesh floated down to me. I created a little pile on the floor. I then cut my finger as much as I could on a sharp piece of rock. The sharks smelled the new blood and I covered myself in some of the pieces. If I were lucky, they'd rummage through the pile before they even noticed me swimming to the surface. I caught a quick glance at what was going on before I made my move. The biggest shark seemed to be the leader, the one that killed. The rest hung back, waiting to be served. I grabbed a rock for my protection and kicked as hard as I could to the surface. My plan had worked. By the time the sharks even knew it was just a pile of flesh they had already devoured, I was almost to the dock. I grabbed hold of the pole and tried to pull myself up. The algae made the pole hard to grip. Just then a hand reached down to pull me up. Just as my feet left the splashing water, I heard the jaws of a shark open and snap close.

This was my brush with death.
I had a dream about sharks. I think ocean life is simply beautiful. I've always admired any kind of marine life. I was never really scared at the thought of sharks until I tried to find a picture to accentuate my story and it sent chills up my spine to see the big open jaws, the circling around flesh and whatever else it is that sharks do. I know I probably have a better chance of getting hit by a falling plane than getting eaten by a shark, but it's still quite frightening.
